Rogers unveils 2014-15 NHL Broadcast Schedule

Rogers, Canada’s new home for hockey, today unveiled its 2014-15 NHL national broadcast schedule, delivering double the number of games on free over-the-air TV and twice as many Hockey Night in Canada Saturday night games than ever before for Canadians.
Rogers’ marquee national broadcast schedule showcases an abundance of premium Canadian matchups and all of the marquee events of the season, including the 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, NHL All-Star Game and the favourite Canadian tradition: Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada.
In addition to the more than 200 national games unveiled today, Rogers will announce its remaining national and regional broadcast schedules in the coming weeks. In total, Rogers will deliver 350 national regular season games across nine networks, including CBC, City, Sportsnet (East, Ontario, West, and Pacific), Sportsnet ONE, Sportsnet 360 and FX Canada.

Highlights from the Rogers 2014-15 NHL national broadcast schedule, including opening week details, are as follows:
Wednesday, Oct. 8 – Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey
• The puck drops on the 2014-15 season on Wednesday, Oct. 8 with a can’t-miss all-Canadian doubleheader. A classic Original Six match-up kicks off the night, as P.K. Subban and the Montreal Canadiens take on Phil Kessel and the Toronto Maple Leafs, followed by the new-look Vancouver Canucks strapping in to take on the Flames in Calgary
• At least one Canadian team is featured in 35 Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey games, including nine all-Canadian matchups, and eight doubleheaders throughout the season
• The Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey schedule also includes four Original Six matchups, featuring Toronto, Montreal, Boston and Detroit
Saturday, Oct. 11 – Hockey Night in Canada
• Three nights later on Saturday, Oct. 11, the tradition continues as Hockey Night in Canada returns to the airwaves in classic style with six games featuring all seven Canadian teams in an action-packed Saturday night
• Each week throughout the season, Hockey Night in Canada will feature a minimum of four games every Saturday night, delivering more than 150 Saturday games in total for the duration of the regular season
• Plus, the Hockey Night in Canada schedule features more than 20 all-Canadian matchups featuring all seven Canadian teams
Sunday, Oct. 12 – Sunday Night Hockey
• The first week of the 2014-15 NHL season culminates with the highly-anticipated Sunday Night Hockey, the newest national night on the NHL schedule. In the first edition of Sunday Night Hockey on Sunday, Oct. 12, the Maple Leafs hit the Big Apple to take on Henrik Lundqvist and the Stanley Cup finalist New York Rangers
• This marks the first of 25 broadcasts to be hosted from a different community rink in various hometowns across Canada. Each Sunday Night Hockey broadcast will feature a Canadian team in action, with local NHL player profiles, grassroots stories, and local entertainment features
• Sunday Night Hockey will also feature five Original Six matchups featuring Montreal, Toronto, Detroit, Boston and the New York Rangers
Other key events on the Rogers NHL national broadcast schedule include welcoming the New Year with superstars Jonathan Toews and Alex Ovechkin as Chicago takes on Washington in the 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on Thursday, Jan. 1, as well as the traditional Hockey Day in Canada, featuring a tripleheader with all seven Canadian teams in action on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015.
In addition to regular season games, Rogers has exclusive Canadian broadcast coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Stanley Cup Final, NHL All-Star Game, NHL Draft Lottery, NHL Draft, and the NHL Awards. Sportsnet is also the official regional television broadcast rights holder for the Calgary Flames (including radio rights on Sportsnet 960 The FAN), Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs (including radio rights on Sportsnet 590 The FAN) and Vancouver Canucks.
Additional national game broadcasts will be announced in the coming weeks, including more U.S. /U.S. match-ups to be available Wednesday nights on Sportsnet ONE, Thursday nights on Sportsnet 360, Sunday afternoons (starting mid-January) on Sportsnet, as well as other weeknight dates.
Rogers Communications secured a 12-year deal with the NHL in November 2013 for exclusive national broadcast and multimedia rights in Canada, beginning with the 2014-15 season.
