An apparent security breach at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport kept some flights on the ground late Wednesday.
All departing international flights from Terminal 1 were suspended while police searched for a male passenger who breached airport security.
The man had reportedly rushed through security without being checked at about 10:45 p.m.
Peel police said he may have left the security zone to have a cigarette before boarding his flight to Brazil.
Flights were given the all-clear about an hour later when the man was tracked down, and his boarding pass was shown to be valid.
Passengers who arrived at the country’s busiest airport were kept on board aircraft while police conducted their search.
All operations now moving as scheduled. Some residual delays possible as aircraft move to their assigned gates.
