Pearson airport express bus to cease service this fall

This fall, the airport express bus service that goes to Pearson Airport from downtown hotels will stop running.

Pacific Western Transportation is ending its Airport Express bus on Oct. 31, citing falling ridership.

The number of passengers has fallen to about an average of 200,000 a year in 2013 from an average of 400,000 in previous years.

The company’s general manager told The Toronto Star that downtown construction, traffic and the popularity of Billy Bishop Airport have all contributed to the decline of the service.

Next year, riders will also have another option: an express train between Union Station and Pearson that is expected to open before the start of the Pan Am games.
