Favourite Toronto spots to watch World Cup matches

The World Cup soccer tournament, which begins Thursday, is the most watched sporting event on Earth.

In the last World Cup four years ago, 3.2-billion people tuned in, including 909.6 million for the final match, according to the sport’s governing body FIFA. That is compared with the 111.5-million people who tuned into the Super Bowl this year, according to The Associated Press.

This year 32 national teams will be in the host country of Brazil when the month-long tournament begins Thursday.

CityNews has compiled a list of favourite Toronto cafes, restaurants and watering holes where fans go to watch their favourite teams.
