Toronto Public Health unwraps city condom

Toronto Public Health has unrolled a free limited-edition condom that will be available next week.

A photo of the condom wrapper was tweeted by the public health department on Wednesday. It shows a blue condom wrapper with the city street names, Coxwell Avenue, Cummer Avenue and Wood Street, and says, “No matter which way you go put it on!”

The public health department said in a brief posting on its website that the city condom program follows the similar campaigns of New York City and Los Angeles that were successful. Click here and here to read about their programs.

“Use a new condom every time you have oral, anal or vaginal sex,” the department said in the post. “Condoms decrease the risk of STIs (sexually transmitted infections), HIV and/or unplanned pregnancy.”

A health official wasn’t immediately available to comment on Wednesday.
