Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard is through to the semifinals of the French Open after beating Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain 7-6 (4), 2-6, 7-5.
Bouchard fell into an early hole but rallied from 2-5 down to take the opening set at the Court Suzanne Lenglen.
Navarro bounced back in the second set, easily defeating Bouchard 6-2.
After trailing 4-1, Bouchard rallied to claim the third and deciding set 7-5.
Bouchard will play Maria Sharapova in the semifinals. The seventh-seeded Russian also started off slowly in her quarterfinal match, falling behind 4-0 in the first set before finding consistency to eliminate Spain’s Garbine Muguruza.
Sharapova won the French Open in 2012 and lost last year’s final to Serena Williams.
