Ontario election ad ban ends as leaders woo voters

The provincial election is kicking into high gear on Wednesday after a two-week ban on election ads on television, radio and print ended at midnight Tuesday.

The ban is put in place when a snap election is called to prevent the party in power from having an advantage.

That didn’t stop Conservative leader Tim Hudak from earlier rolling out an online ad touting his “million jobs” plan — the blackout didn’t apply to internet messages.

A commercial from the Liberals focuses on job creation and commitments to transit and road improvement.

And the NDP is taking aim at the Liberal’s cancelled gas plants scandal that cost tax-payers $1.1 billion.

The campaign trail continues Wednesday, with Hudak touring a plastic factory in Cobourg before a stop in Peterborough.

Wynne will have a busy day, visiting Oldcastle before touring the Toyota Manufacturing plant in Cambridge. Then she’s off to Thornhill.

NDP leader Andrea Horwath will be in the GTA, visiting the Brampton Library and Toronto’s Jane Park Plaza.

Ontarians head to the polls on June 12.
