Man dies after being struck by vehicle in Mississauga

A 33-year-old man has died after he was struck by a vehicle at Derry Road East and Hurontario Street in Mississauga, Peel police confirm.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 11:15 p.m. Friday.

The victim suffered head injuries and was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police say the driver, a 26-year-old Mississauga man, remained on scene.

The major collisions bureau was called in to help determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.

“He was walking with someone so that person has provided a statement to police,” Const. Fiona Thivierge explained.

The area was shut down for several hours while police conducted their investigation.

Const. Thivierge says it’s too soon to tell if charges will be laid as the investigation is ongoing.
