Just when drivers thought lane restrictions on the Gardiner Expressway were slowing them down, there’s another highway closure this weekend.

The Don Valley Parkway was shut down from Highway 401 to the Gardiner at 10 p.m. Friday for annual spring maintenance work. It will reopen at 6 a.m. Sunday.

Road crews will be cleaning up catch basins, inspecting CCTV cameras, repairing overhead signs and removing garbage, among other tasks.

Drivers can use Don Mills Road, Bayview Avenue, Victoria Park Avenue and Kingston Road as alternate roadways during the closure.

Last weekend, the Gardiner was shut down to clean it up and get it ready for long-term maintenance.

In addition to the DVP closure, a large portion of Yonge Street will be off-limits to motorists on Sunday for the Toronto Goodlife Marathon. Road closures will also be in effect for the Khalsa Day Parade on Sunday. Click here for a full list of closures.
