Afghan toddler who survived terror attack arrives in Toronto tonight

A two-year-old boy who lost his family in a Taliban attack but survived himself will have a new home in Toronto on Wednesday night.
Abuzar Ahmad was shot four times during the attack on a luxury hotel in Kabul on March 20.
The toddler was also struck by shrapnel in the face. He laid with the dead for hours and was in a coma for three days.
The attack left nine people dead, including Abuzar’s father, who, among his family members, was shot first followed by Abuzar’s six-year-old brother, his eight-year-old sister and his mother.
His uncle who lives in the GTA has been trying to bring the boy here.
Bashir Mirzad told 680News and CityNews that his nephew is a miracle.
“He lost everything,” Mirzad said. “The first time when I saw him in the hospital, I thought we would not have him as well but thank God he survived.”
The boy has a big extended family here and the family hopes he’ll have an easy transition.
Mirzad said one of his nephews and his wife will care for the boy and they are excited about the new addition to their family.
The boy’s flight from Turkey is expected to arrive at Pearson airport around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
