Toronto Star reporter Robyn Doolitte moving to Globe and Mail

Toronto Star reporter Robyn Doolittle, one of the key reporters in breaking the Rob Ford crack video scandal, is moving to the Globe and Mail.

The newspaper’s editor-in-chief David Walmsley, himself new to the Globe, tweeted out the announcement on Wednesday morning. Doolittle confirmed it on Twitter.

Doolittle is known in Toronto and around the world for her work on Ford. The former city hall reporter recently published a book about the scandal-plagued mayor and his family. Crazy Town: The Rob Ford Story was a hit with U.S. media, who were already fascinated with Ford.

Doolittle appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and she has sold the film and television rights to Blue Ice Pictures.

Doolittle told CityNews she was not doing interviews about the move.

The move comes amid a shakeup at two of the country’s national newspapers.

On March 19, Walmsley replaced John Stackhouse, who had been editor-in-chief since 2009. Stephen Meurice, the National Post’s editor-in-chief, stepped down the next day. A permanent replacement has not yet been named.
