New ad from Chow supporter attacks Toronto mayoral candidate John Tory

The gloves are off in the mayoral campaign with a new attack ad aimed at John Tory posted to YouTube Friday.

The ad calls Tory out for his role on the Rogers board of directors, his comments that women should take up golf to get ahead in the corporate world and his donations to the Rob and Doug Ford campaigns in 2010. It also points out the Tory campaign’s lack of platform thus far in the race.

Olivia Chow’s communications director Jamey Heath denied the video was made by her campaign team, but confirmed it was by a supporter.

“Our supporters have a variety of skills. Policy, photographs, pounding signs in, and videos,” he said in an email. “I didn’t script, edit or ask for it but did see it before it was uploaded.”

The video was also tweeted by Chow campaign volunteer and political strategist Warren Kinsella.

John Tory is not commenting on the ad.
