Man shot to death in west end: EMS

Toronto EMS says a man was shot to death Tuesday on Symington Avenue near Davenport Road and Lansdowne Avenue in the west end.

Symington Avenue is closed on Wednesday morning, Davenport to Kingsley, for the investigation.

Paramedics say the victim, believed to be in his 40s, suffered multiple gun shot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency crews were called to the scene just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. Police say the K9 unit was called in to assist in the investigation.

“Originally we had police dog services here try to follow the tracks if the people were on foot,” Sgt. Egidio Roseto said. “Unfortunately there’s just way too much pedestrian traffic here and we weren’t able to keep a scent.”

Police say two relatives of the deceased were home at the time of the shooting but were not harmed.

There has been no word on a suspect.

Police continue to investigate.
