Toronto police chief warned about Doug Ford’s complaint: report

Toronto police chief Bill Blair said he was warned that a complaint against him by Coun. Doug Ford would be filed, the Toronto Star reports.

The complaint was filed by Ford because of a fishing trip that Blair took last year with police services board member Andrew Pringle. Ford claims the trip was a conflict of interest and called for the chief to step down. The complaint was forwarded by the police services board for review by the police watchdog, Office of the Independent Police Review Director.

Blair told the Star he knew about the complaint because Mayor Rob Ford’s former driver Alexander Lisi, who is also an accused drug dealer, told investigators that their boss was “going to get his this weekend.”

Blair said that Lisi made the comment before the chief’s news conference on Oct. 31, 2013. That was the news conference when Blair announced police had the video showing the mayor smoking from what appears to be a crack pipe.

Blair also told the Star he was “deeply offended” at being called a “c—sucker” last month by the mayor. A YouTube video of Ford at the Steak Queen restaurant in northern Etobicoke showed Ford cursing at Blair followed by expletives in Jamaican patois.
