Former TTC chair Karen Stintz will join the race for Toronto’s mayor on Monday.

Stintz confirmed on Twitter that she’ll formally register as a candidate at city hall in the morning.

Stintz has been a councillor for 10 years representing Ward 16, Eglinton-Lawrence.

In December Stintz announced she would be resigning as chair of the TTC to prepare to run for mayor. Her resignation was effective on Saturday.

Coun. Maria Augimeri was chosen to replace Stintz as chair of the TTC during council’s monthly meeting on Wednesday.

Other known candidates running for mayor include Rob Ford and David Soknacki.
