Landmark court ruling puts thousands of alleged illegal downloaders at risk of penalties

Internet provider TekSavvy has been ordered by the court to hand over the names of 2,000 customers linked to pirating movies from Voltage Pictures, such as the Dallas Buyers Club and the Hurt Locker.
Listed customers could receive a letter soon detailing potential fines and other penalties, but it’s not yet known when that letter will come.
Reporter Tammie Sutherland spoke with a lawyer representing the film company about their motivations for the suit.
