Man charged in fatal Newmarket double stabbing

Police have charged a 38-year-old Brampton man with first-degree murder after a double stabbing in Newmarket last week.

On Wednesday, police tracked John Jansen to a home in Bradford and arrested him and a 27-year-old woman who was there at the time. Britaney Hall has been charged with being an accessory after the fact.

Both appeared in court on Thursday morning.

The double stabbing happened on the evening of Feb. 12 near Huron Heights and Davis drives.

One of the victims, 65-year-old Ronidy Roseborough of Newmarket, died in hospital. The other was taken to hospital with serious injuries and will survive.

Witnesses said they saw three suspects fleeing in a dark SUV. Police believe Jansen was one of them and are still looking for the other two.
