‘Toronto Star’ reporter Robyn Doolittle makes ‘Daily Show’ debut

Toronto Star reporter Robyn Doolittle, one of three reporters to see the infamous so-called crack video featuring Mayor Rob Ford, appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Thursday night.

She was there to promote her new book, Crazy Town: The Rob Ford Story, which details the Ford family history as well as Rob Ford’s run for mayor and behaviour at city hall.

“Some of the sources that I’d spoken with for my book are in awe of his stamina, I guess, for lack of a better word, the fact that what he puts into his body, as well as being unhealthy,” she told Stewart.

“That would be impressive for a competitive eater,” Stewart joked, “but he is the mayor of Toronto.”

The book briefly sold out on Amazon on the first day of its launch and there’s an enormous wait list at the Toronto Public Library — but not everyone is so eager to read it.

“You gotta be kidding me,” said Doug Ford when asked if he planned to read the book.

The mayor’s brother and council colleague said the book isn’t changing the tack of Ford supporters.

“It just gets the Ford Nation going even more.”
