Fare hikes in effect for GO Transit, 407 ETR

Fare hikes for GO Transit and the 407 ETR kicked in on Saturday.

GO fares have gone up 35-55 cents depending on the length of the trip.

Fares for students, seniors and children are now also higher.

Metrolinx approved the increase last December.

GO said the fare increase would allow more train service on the Lakeshore line, add more 12-car trains to relieve crowding and add more bus trips on busier routes.

Presto users, meanwhile, now get a bigger discount.

Adults pay 10 per cent less with Presto compared to a single adult ticket.

It now also costs more to drive on the 407 from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. on weekdays and from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Click here for the new rates.
