SIU called after fatal crash on QEW at Walkers Line

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in following a fatal crash on the Queen Elizabeth Way in Burlington, Tuesday.
A Toyota Matrix collided into the rear of a transport truck on the westbound lanes of the QEW, between Walkers and Guelph Lines, at around 2:30 a.m.
The 36-year-old driver — the lone occupant of the car — was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries.
The westbound QEW was closed for the investigation but has since reopened.
The SIU says at the time of the crash, the OPP was assisting with maintenance operation in the area.
Seven SIU investigators have been assigned to the case. The SIU is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call 416-622-1935 or 1-800-787-8529 (ext. 1935).
The police arm’s length agency investigates all reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
