Man charged with assaulting police officer near Ryerson campus

One man is in custody after he allegedly assaulted a Toronto Police officer near the Ryerson University campus early on Thursday morning.
Officers were called to Church and Gould streets around 3 a.m. after the man was allegedly seen yelling at other people.
When officers tried to arrest him, he allegedly assaulting an officer and ran away.
One officer had a cut to his hand and the suspect was hit in the face.
He was eventually arrested near Yonge Street and taken to hospital.
Police say he will be charged.
