There’s less reason for Canadian HGTV fans to look across the border for content to watch.

As an NPR blogger discovered during a few days of bingeing on home makeover shows, many of the top HGTV shows in the U.S. are actually exports from Canada.

“As it turns out, the United States basic-cable television audience is learning all about decorating from watching the gradual renovation of all of Toronto,” writes Linda Holmes, who notes she was surprised to learn the “Property Brothers,” “Holmes Makes It Right” and “Love It or List It” shows she was watching were all shot in Canada.
