Fire destroys North York home

Fire crews remain on scene after a fire destroyed a home in North York Wednesday evening.

Officials say the residents were not home at the time of the blaze, which broke out around 8 p.m.

The fire is believed to have broken out on the second floor of the home and quickly escalated to the roof.

The home, which is located in the York Mills Road and Bayview Avenue area, was currently without power due to the ice storm.

There has been no word on what caused the blaze.
