Second suspect arrested in Nuit Blanche death

A second suspect has been arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection with the fatal stabbing of Rameez Khalid, 19, which occurred during Nuit Blanche.

Khalid was stabbed in the early morning of Oct. 6 after an altercation in the area of Richmond Street West and York Street in downtown Toronto.

Police say the victim attended a pop-up rave on University Avenue at Queen Street, part of Nuit Blanche, Toronto’s annual all-night alternative art event. At that rave, police say the victim was involved in an altercation with another group of people.

Det. Scott Whittemore said the fight was broken up by members of the public. The victim and a friend left the area and went eastbound on Richmond  where they crossed paths once again with the group from the fight.

Whittemore said a violent altercation then took place, during which Khalid suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police say Victor Ramos, 21, surrendered Monday morning.

On Dec. 3, Emanuel Lozada, 22, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
