Ex-Scouts Canada volunteer accused of possessing child porn

A lawyer in Mississauga, who was a Scouts Canada volunteer, faces several child pornography offences including possessing child porn, Halton police say.

Police say the man was arrested on Nov. 26 more than a year after police raided his Oakville home and seized a number of computers and computer storage devices.

Martin Schulz, 47, faces two charges of possession of child pornography and one charge of making child porn available. Schulz, who has a law practice in Mississauga dealing with family, wills and estates and real estate law, is expected in court on Friday.

Police wouldn’t confirm whether the charges related to Schulz’s position as a Scouts Canada volunteer, but they said his association with the group ended last month.

Det.-Sgt. Alison Freeman said in a release officers wanted the public to know he was with Scouts Canada “because the accused has an affiliation with a group involving children.”

The investigation is ongoing.
