Police arrest 15-year-old boy for bringing fully loaded gun to school at Jarvis Collegiate

TORONTO- A 15-year-old boy was arrested Friday after bringing a fully loaded, semi-automatic gun to school.

Police arrested the boy in his classroom at Jarvis Collegiate Institute around 1:15 p.m.

The teen was arrested for carrying the weapon in his backpack.

The school made an announcement over the P.A. system, and students said they had to stay in their classrooms for an extra 30 minutes.

Some also had their bags searched.

The Toronto District School Board said the incident was resolved quickly.

The boy, who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing eight charges including: Unauthorized possession of a firearm, Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition and Weapons dangerous.

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m.
