TORONTO, Ont. – One of the most outspoken members of Toronto city council is on the fence over whether he will run in the 2014 municipal election.
Councillor Doug Ford tells 680News he is 98 per cent sure he won’t run, because he has his eyes on Queen’s Park.
“I like the province a little better,” he said, Friday. “It’s a little more structured. I like structure. I’m the first to say all the time ‘City Hall is dysfunctional at times’ but it’s the government system that makes it dysfunctional.”
“I would never rule out provincial politics.”
Ford said if he did run provincially, he would run for the Progressive Conservatives in Etobicoke north.
However, councillor Mary Fragedakis doesn’t believe he’ll leave municipal politics behind.
“He’s running, he’s running,” she said, as Ford chuckled alongside her. “He couldn’t not come back to City Hall. It’s in his blood.”
Brother Rob has already made it clear he intends to run for re-election as Mayor next year.
The municipal election will be held Oct. 27, 2014. Nomination papers can be filed as of January 2, 2014.
