Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,735.12 down 103.88 points):

Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM). Oil and gas. Down 30 cents, or 2.34 per cent, at $12.52 on 6.16 million shares.

NeuLion, Inc. (TSX:NLN). Communications services. Up two cents, or 3.57 per cent, at 58 cents on 4.21 million shares.

Cequence Energy Ltd. (TSX:CQE). Oil and gas. Up 15 cents, or 9.68 per cent, at $1.70 on 4.15 million shares. The Calgary-based company is in the final stages of arranging a $60-million investment from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. The financing will be used to speed development of its Simonette project in the Montney formation.

Artek Exploration Ltd. (TSX:RTK). Oil and gas. Up a penny, or 0.29 per cent, at $3.51 on 4.14 million shares.

San Gold Corp. (TSX:SGR). Miner. Down a penny, or 5.41 per cent, at 17.5 cents on 3.91 million shares. The metals and mining sector led all decliners on the main index, dropping 2.62 per cent to 770.22 points.

Toronto Venture Exchange (943.81 down 3.52 points):

Zodiac Exploration Inc. (TSXV:ZEX). Oil and gas. Unchanged at 9.5 cents on 4.17 million shares.

Fission Uranium Corp. (TSXV:FCU). Miner. Down six cents, or 4.80 per cent, at $1.19 on 3.66 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

DHX Media Ltd. (TSX:DHX). Up six cents, or 1.68 per cent, at $3.63 on 174,442 shares. Corus Entertainment’s YTV specialty channel has commissioned Halifax-based DHX Media to provide a new animated comedy series aimed at children between the ages of eight and 12. Super RTL in Germany has also ordered the series, called “Looped.”

Sandvine Corp. (TSX:SVC). Telecommunications. Up eight cents, or 3.62 per cent, at $2.29 on 1.42 million shares. The company posted improved third-quarter results, which beat analyst estimates. Net income totalled US$4.7 million or 3.3 cents per share, reversing year-earlier loss of $900,000 or nil per share. Revenue was up 25 per cent at U$27.2 million.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. (TSX:VRX). Drugs, health products. Up $1.53, or 1.35 per cent, at $114.91 on 513,521 shares. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a new Bausch + Lomb disposable contact lens sooner than expected. Bausch + Lomb was acquired by Valeant for about US$8.7 billion in August.
