15th anniversary of Amanda’s Lemonade Stand

A Toronto tradition is ready for another big day; Sunday marks the 15th anniversary of Amanda’s Lemonade Stand.

17-year-old Amanda Belzowski has raised more than $181,000 over the years to help fix children’s hearts.

“We’re raising money to fix kid’s heart locally with Sick Kid’s and around the world with Save A Child’s Heart and Heart and Stroke Foundation.”

The event takes place Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 33 Post Road near Bayview and Lawrence featuring a live auction, pony rides, face painting, fire trucks, pizza, corn on the cob, cookies, cake, and of course, lemonade.

“I have raised over $186,000 for pediatric life saving cardiac research through three amazing organizations, Save A Child’s Heart, Sick Kids Hospital and Heart and Stroke Foundation,” Amanda said.

Amanda hopes to break the $200,000 mark in donations.

“What really keeps me doing it all these years is inspiring other kids to show them that they can make a difference in the world — they can do anything they want to do,” Amanda of what continues to motivate her.

The young philanthropist and entrepreneur’s advice: “You’re never to little to make a big difference in the world.”
