TORONTO- The Toronto District School Board confirmed Thursday that dozens of schools have received packages containing strange and incoherent material.
“If you were to view it, you would have a hard time making sense of what the intent was,” said TDSB spokesperson John Yan who described the material in the envelopes as “pages of information, cut and pasted from a variety of sources.”
Yan said 15 of the independent daycare centres operating in Catholic schools in the city received the packages, while spokesperson Shari Schwartz-Maltz confirmed 65 more packages were sent to public child care centres. Toronto Police are investigating, and believe over 100 packages may have been sent in total.
“It contains no threat or harm to students or staff, there really is no criminality to it,” said Constable Victor Kwong.
Yan said topics in the packages vary from many topics including religion and cleanliness.
Police believe the packages are coming from one person, but continue to investigate the source. They are asking all schools to report any odd packages to police.
