TORONTO – Angus Glen Golf Club has been selected as the site of the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games’ golf competition.
Sixty-four of the top players from the Americas and the Caribbean will tee off at Angus Glen in July 2015 when golf makes its Pan Am debut.
Golf is one of 40 sporting events in the Pan Am line-up at venues across the Greater Toronto Area.
The four-day 2015 Pan Am golf event is tentatively set for July 16-19, 2015 — a year ahead of the return of golf to Olympic competition at the Rio Games for the first time in more than 100 years.
Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti told 680News the games are a big deal.
“This in fact will be the largest ever sporting event held in the country, bigger than the Montreal Olympics,” Scarpitti said.
Forty sporting events will be held at more than 24 spots in 10 cities across the GTA and Hamilton.
Organizers estimate the games will create 26,000 jobs and bring in 250,000 visitors and their money.
