North York woman killed in two-vehicle crash near Barrie

A North York woman is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 11 near Barrie Sunday night.
Provincial police say a vehicle was travelling southbound on Hwy. 11 near Simcoe County Road 93 at around 11:30 p.m. when it lost control and went into a ditch. The vehicle then entered the northbound lanes, striking a vehicle.
The driver — a 41-year-old woman — was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger and the driver of the other vehicle suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic was rerouted for several hours while OPP investigated but Hwy. 11 is now open in both directions.
Police have not released the woman’s name.
