A large rally took over some downtown streets on Friday afternoon.
Two unions protested Verizon’s possible move into Canada.
The CAW and CEP, which will officially join together next month to form “Unifor,” say the move will put thousands of Canadians out of work.
The rally happened at the intersection of Yonge and Richmond Streets. The CEP group marched from the Convention Centre, while the CAW workers marched from the Sheraton Centre.
Delegates from across the country are in Toronto for the new union’s founding convention this weekend.
