Mother charged with attempted murder of son, 11

Toronto police have charged a 32-year-old mother with attempted murder of her 11-year-son in Etobicoke.

Police were called to the building on Eva Road near the West Mall and Burnamthorpe after 911 calls reporting a woman screaming and what sounded like a child being beaten.

Officers couldn’t get in so had to break in to gain access into the apartment.

When they got into the apartment, they found an 11-year-old boy with serious head injuries.

The boy is in hospital in life-threatening condition.

The 32-year-old woman and a teenage girl were taken into custody at the scene. The girl has since been released, police told CityNews.

Three officers suffered minor injuries as they tried to make an arrest.

Two other children have been removed from the home and are now in the care of Children’s Aid Society.

Clarification: Police first said the boy was 12.
