Police said the infant was brought to a local hospital without any vital signs on Aug. 22.
An initial investigation revealed suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the infant and “the cause of death in this case has been determined as blunt injury to the head,” said police.
Police arrested the infant’s parents on Tuesday.
Kien Phat Tran, 21, and Thi My Phuong Bui, 22, both of Markham, are charged with second-degree murder.
