TORONTO – A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle on Humber College Boulevard, Toronto police say.
The woman was struck around 3:30 p.m. near Humber College Boulevard and Hwy. 27 after attempting to cross the road from the north side to the south side.
Police Const. Hugh Smith says the victim was between 58 and 59 years old and had just exited a TTC bus.
The woman was struck and killed by a passing GMC Sierra pickup truck, driven by an 18-year-old man, heading westbound in the centre lane.
The vehicle remained at the site of the incident.
Charges have not be laid.
“We have to look at her position when she was crossing,” said Const. Smith.
“There are other avenues with charges when people are in a crosswalk or passing a stopped vehicle approaching a crosswalk area.”
The area is closed to all traffic until approximately 9 o’clock Tuesday night when police expect to wrap up their investigation.
The 96 Wilson and 191 Highway 27 Rocket buses are diverting as a result of the intersection being closed.
