Mayor Ford’s former Chief of Staff says he contacted police while working at City Hall

Mayor Rob Ford’s former Chief of Staff Mark Towhey confirmed he contacted Toronto police while serving as the Mayor’s top aide.

The Toronto Star is reporting Mark Towhey admitted in a radio interview that he initiated contact with the police when he came into some information that he thought might be useful to them.

The Star reported earlier this year that Towhey had approached the police — but, Towhey had not spoken publicly about the article, or anything else related to Ford’s crack cocaine scandal until Monday.

Ford fired Towhey on May 23, a week after The Star and the U.S. website Gawker had published articles about the alleged crack video.
