Students at three high schools in Durham Region headed back to school, Monday.
Classes at Brock, Henry Street and Maxwell Heights started a week earlier, as part of a modified school year.
It’s an effort to improve attendance before the Christmas break and to try to cut down on suspensions and trips to the office.
However, students will get a week-long break in November.
Maxwell Heights started the pilot project in 2012, while Whitby’s Brock and Henry Street high schools have been following this modified calendar for several years.
