A three-year-old boy is dead after he was pulled from a pool in North York.
Police told CityNews they were called to a condominium on Dallimore Circle, in the Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East area Saturday afternoon.
Officers were first on scene and performed CPR on the child.
The boy was then transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the child’s mother had briefly stepped away from the area and left him in the care of another person at the time of the incident.
“His mother was present. At some point she left the vicinity of the pool area, she went to the bathroom, returned and found her son at the bottom of the pool,” Sgt. Kirwin Marshall told CityNews.
The boy had been under water for three minutes and CPR was not performed until seven minutes, according to police.
About seven people were in the pool at the time and no lifeguard was on duty.
