TORONTO – Progressive Conservative Doug Holyday and the Liberals’ Mitzie Hunter were sworn in at Queen’s Park Thursday.
With his family and Conservative Leader Tim Hudak watching, the former Toronto deputy mayor took his oath as MPP.
“Certainly an honour to be sworn in and it’s an honour to be an MPP,” Holyday said.
Mayor Rob Ford was on hand for the ceremony and says Holyday will push for accountability and transparency at Queen’s Park.
“[He] did it down at city hall and he’ll do it at Queen’s Park. He’ll be a huge asset, especially in opposition.”
Then it was Hunter’s turn to place her hand on the historic legislature bible, used in these ceremonies since 1867.
