King-Spadina intersection reopens following TTC work

TORONTO – The intersection of King Street West and Spadina Avenue reopened Tuesday, after being closed for two weeks for streetcar track replacement work.

Streetcars will once again be running as usual along the 504 King and 508 Lakeshore lines.

Special streetcar service to the CNE on the 521 Exhibition East route will begin, operating from King and St Andrew stations along King Street, Bathurst Street, and Fleet Street to Exhibition Loop.

However, streetcar service on the Spadina line will not resume until Sept. 1. Until then, the 510 Spadina route will continue to be served by replacement buses between Spadina Station and Queens Quay.

Stintz thanked residents, businesses and customers for their patience during the construction.

Until August 20:

  • Eastbound traffic on King St. approaching Spadina Ave. detoured to Bathurst, Portland and Brant streets
  • Westbound traffic detoured to John, Peter and Charlotte streets.
  • Northbound traffic detoured to Bremner Blvd., Blue Jays Way or Front St., while southbound traffic will be routed to Queen, Richmond and Adelaide streets.

Alternative east-west routes include Front, Adelaide, Queen streets. Bathurst Street and University Avenue are alternative north-southbound routes.
