Peel Regional Police are investigating a crash on Derry Rd., west of Mavis Rd., that has left one woman dead.
The single vehicle accident happened around 3:30 Sunday morning.
The vehicle “had such a tremendous impact into a light pole that it had split in two,” Const. Fiona Thieverge told 680News.
“Speed is definitely a factor in this accident and anything to do with alcohol or drugs will not be revealed until after the autopsy and some toxicology reports are done.”
Police received several calls after the collision and are still appealing for witnesses.
“The family has been notified. It’s an absolutely a horrendous event for this family. The 19-year-old female is from the Brampton area and she was on her way home at the time of the accident.”
Derry Road was blocked from John Watt Blvd. to Samuelson Circle, east of the Credit River Bridge, but has since opened.
