General Motors is recalling 45,000 Chevy Cruze compact cars and almost 300,000 cars in the United States.
The vehicles are being recalled because of the power brake booster can fail, forcing the driver to put more pressure on the brake pedal to stop the car.
The problem has caused 27 low-speed crashes and no injuries, GM confirms.
The 2011 and 2012 Cruze models with 1.4-lire engines and six-speed automatic transmission.
This is the eighth Chevy Cruze recall since the car went on sale in North America almost three years ago.
Previous recalls were for oil leaks that presented a fire hazard, fuel tanks coming loose, side air bag malfunctions, and problems with the steering and transmissions.
