Five Ontario ridings go to the polls Aug. 1.
The Grit-held ridings were left open after recent Liberal resignations. Several high-profile candidates — including Toronto deputy mayor and PC candidate Doug Holyday and Toronto city councillor and Liberal candidate Peter Milczyn in Etobicoke-Lakeshore and Ken Coran, former president of the secondary teachers’ union and Liberal candidate, in London West — are vying for a seat at Queen’s Park.
The Etobicoke-Lakeshore riding — opened up by the resignation of former Liberal education minister Laurel Broten — is an intense race with the two Toronto city council colleagues in the running. In Scarborough-Guildwood, the proposed Scarborough subway is at the centre of the race.
Here is a look at the candidates.
