TORONTO – Road repairs on the Gardiner Expressway from Jarvis Street to the Don Roadway began Wednesday and will continue until December 2014.
Two lanes of traffic between Jarvis Street and the Don Roadway will close to accommodate the construction until December 2013.
Two lanes will remain open for access to the northbound Don Valley Parkway and the eastbound Lake Shore Boulevard East.
During the 18-month construction period, short-term lane restrictions and closures will take place in both directions on the Gardiner Expressway, both directions on the Lake Shake Boulevard, Jarvis Street to the eastbound Gardiner Expressway ramp and the westbound Gardiner to Jarvis and Sherbourne street ramps, the city says.
Construction crews will work in stages to minimize disruption to motorists on both the Gardiner and Lake Shore Boulevard.
Most of the short-term lane closures are expected to take place overnight.
