McCartney gives Lac-Megantic community free concert tickets

Music legend Paul McCartney is giving him free concert tickets to those affected by the Lac-Megantic train disaster.

He’s expected to address the survivors who come to next week’s show.

The tickets will be distributed Saturday and organizers expect about 1,000 people will be given out.

Last Sunday Stevie Wonder dedicated his concert to the Lac-Megantic victims and suggested he might also perform with McCartney to help survivors.

McCartney is the latest notable to express support for Lac-Megantic with others including United States President Barack Obama, the Queen and Pope Francis.

Police believe 47 people died in the explosion and fire created by a runaway train loaded with crude oil.

A total of 42 bodies have been recovered so far.
