Police probe overnight break-ins in south Etobicoke

TORONTO – Toronto police are investigating a series of overnight break-ins in south Etobicoke — the same neighbourhood that was targeted last summer.

Police said there were four break-ins between 12:55 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on Sunday in the Park Lawn and Berry roads area.

Police said man entered the homes through unlocked windows and doors and rummaged through the residents’ belongings as they slept.

Investigators said one woman was sexually assaulted while she was asleep.

Police are reminding people to keep their windows and doors locked at night.

These break-ins were similar to a string of robberies that took place in 2012 in this neighbourhood. The suspect was not caught.

Several women were sexually assaulted during last year’s break-ins, including a 91-year-old.

Police believe the same man is responsible for the incidents in 2012.
