Brampton couple guilty of 1st-degree murder

A Brampton father and stepmother have been found guilty of murdering their 15-year-old girl three years ago.

A jury found Fedrick and Elizabeth Gayle guilty of first-degree murder in the June 2010 beating death of Tiffany Gayle after only five hours of deliberation.

Tiffany was found dead in a bathtub inside the family’s home on June 12, 2010. The Grade 10 student had been beaten with a baseball bat and barbecue tool.

Throughout the trial, the couple blamed each other for the girl’s death.

The Crown said Tiffany’s parents were strict and that they were angry when the teen called her biological mother in Jamaica to complain just days before her death.

The girl had moved to Canada from the Caribbean island for a better life only a year before she was killed.
