According to En-Pro, gas prices are expected to drop 0.5 cents on May 24, to an average price of 128.0 cents/litre at most GTA gas stations.
Please note: Gas prices have become very volatile because of a change in the way oil companies set their prices, thus making it more challenging to predict gasoline prices.

Couple of interesting points:
1. We were lead to believe by an industry insider about 3 weeks ago that oil companies had made their profits during the early spring and prices would absolutely not be anywhere near $1.30 ($1.299 for the last couple of days) a litre (same person who said we would have 99c litre over Christmas).
2. I believe that the GTA from Pickering in the East, Brampton, Markham in the North, Burlington in the West and Toronto are the ONLY communities paying these amounts. On travels throughout the rest of cottage country prices range from $1.15 through $1.25 per litre. Why?
3. WTI, Brent and Gas Futures appear to be falling at this time indicating that prices should be falling at the pumps within the GTA.
get a bonusbuck card from Pioneer .every cent earn is like a dollar amount not points so say you save up $32.10 in bonusbucks thats $32.10 good for gas or what ever you want to buy with your bucks the only card good to pay for gas.only thing you cant buy are tobacco products.

Gas up 1.1 cents on Sunday the 19th to 129.9
Of course gas prices are going up, it’s the long weekend
Actually, that is not true that price of gasoline is tied to price of Crude Oil in NYSE. There is actually Unleaded or RBOB Gasoline that is being traded in NYSE. I had noticed RBOB Gasoline reflect our gas prices more closely.
Not surprising – price hike right before long weekend!
Oh yes get the price up there long weekends here greedy people
Gas was $1.23.ltr yesterday in Sault Ste Marie ONT which is over 700 km north west of Toronto and we are paying $1.29? . There has to be a scam somewhere for northern gas is always more expensive!!
Gas in North Bay has been 103.7 – 110.9 for weeks now. Historically gasoline in North Bay has cost more than Gravenhurst, Huntsville or GTA. What are the GTA gas stations up to? Gouging?
In Mississauga – $125.3 – Any gas station – near to Dixie – dundas – Bloor – Burnhamthorpe road…Just gauging……..
gas in muskoka south of gravenhurst 115,9litre
Most stations Monday May 13th were showing 125 .3, an overnight unusual increase, of .5 cent.
We have always been told that the price of gas is tied to the price of crude oil on the stock exchange. Has anyone looked back at these 2 comparitors to see how we really are getting ripped of by these standards. If crudes is at $90 a barel now and we are paying $1.25/litre, what were the comparisons when crude was at this level over the many time in the past? . How can gas companies charge the exact same price for gas? Are their expenses identical? I think not. Why does there seem to be less gas wars among stations? The gas companies keep coming up with new “excuses” ( ways ) of calculating their prices and we keep on swallowing it. Prices are cheaper outside of the city now, but this will change starting the May 24 weekend when everything will go up for the summer. Enjoy it while it lasts. Where is the media? and why are they so silent about this ripoff? Is gas not a necessity? You see reports of having to pay for improvemnets for society with higher taxesd and everyone screams about it. Rising gas prices is like a tax, yet there is silence…?????
I haven’t read everyone’s comments, but we are paying 112.4 in Oshawa today. Toronti is getting ripped off. I always fill up before heading west of here.
You hear it all the time people say gas prices are too high at say $1.25 per liter but “they have no trouble in going into the same station and buying pop or water that works out too $3.00 per liter, or going to un named coffee shop and buying a skim mike extra foam decafe for about $7.00 a liter
Well I’ve never heard of anyone drinking 70 litters of water or coffee in the same amount of time burning gas………….. But, nice try.
down .7 more now to 112.4
We need alternative gas, youtube “engine running on hho” and you can have your car running on hydrogen or oxygen from water. There is also gas fumes, there was an invention where someone put air through the gas and the fumes would burn you can burn up to 90% of the fuel and you get like 100km per 2 gallons, its really cool. I am surprised Canadians didn’t adopt alternative fuels it would be very good for the environment and we can cut our gas consumption like 40%.
gas in
peterborough:
112.9cents
/litre 7.7 cents went down

I have to use premium in my car. I fill up at the Loblaws pumps on Victoria Park Ave. south of Danforth. They are always 2 to 3 cents cheaper than the Esso at the corner of Vic Park and Danforth.
The difference between the independent retailers and the big name oil companies price for premium gas has always been 2 cents per liter. It used to be the independents were 12 cents over premium and big oil stations were 14 cents. Last August, which absolutely no one said boo about, the independents went to 14 cents and big oil went to 16 cents. Never heard one complaint, which is surprising since we were already getting ripped off with the price difference between premium and regular compared to the American difference. They knew they would get away with it because we only look at the posted price for regular.
Canada is owned by the Bilderburg Group and the Queen.
corporations run canada not politicans
Why are we being gouged and ripped off by these manipulators of gasoline.
Nobody seems to criticize what is going on.
Just for the record…WTI is priced at $87.05 (down $1.67 for the day, so far). Brent is priced at $98.16 (down $1.75). Gasoline futures are $272.66 (down 5.52 cents for the day). Media reports indicating economy is not good etc etc. YET we are paying 0.6 cents increase at the pumps for Thursday, in Toronto. Although not much, it still seems somewhat ridiculous that prices are going up at this time. It would be interesting to hear from someone within the majors explaining this cost increase.
Simple solution: Get a Costco card. Price of premium is 2 cents above regular at other stations, and regular is generally 6 cents below other stations. The cost of membership is definitely offset by the savings at the pump!
Good idea, but cannot find a Costco gas station here.
I wonder how much Canadian and imported gas we would all not horribly waste if our governments really mandated that our urban road and highway system be more efficiently managed by efficiency experts to better handle “rush hour(s)” traffic. Who gets their vehicle’s stated gas mileage? My car idles on southern/northern routes in the GTA like Bathurst St., Dufferin St., Bayview Ave., etc. way more than move at a respectable speed – every morning and afternoon on my trip down to the city to/from work! Nobody seems to want to tackle the fix for this issue.
I drive a hybrid. Gas price is important, but only every other week when I might need to top up.
A “true” free market with real competition would help. Then the supply and demand models would actually be applicable.
Just got gas today at 121 in Flamborough. People in the GTA are getting ripped off.
not complaining since I moved back to Alberta, gas hovers around 0.99c/litre around here…
for sure…not sure why gta gas price is much more expensive than the price of other areas
Gas prices in LosAngeles are US $3.80 per gallon. Thats under 1 Canadian dollar per liter.
And gas prices in California are highest in US. Why are we paying $1.30 per liter in this city.
POLITICIANS = THIEVES
I agree. They get free (tax) money so they don’t care
To prove a point. The price in Whitby is a full cent higher than Ajax. Like we didn’t. See this coming after all the comments on cheaper gas in Whitby. I could honestly say that’s the first time I have seen this happen in years.
I just bought gas in Ajax an hour ago at 1.18. I passed by a station in Missisauga advertising at 1.28! Why are these gas companies still getting away with this?? This is completely outrageous – how this can be going for so long??!!
Can someone please explain in layman’s terms how our price of gas changes everyday and out west it stays the same and its lower than us??? Please someone must be able to explain this to me
The price of gas is now regulated by the daily spot price for refined gas, it use to be regulated by the crude oil barrel price at the well head and thus take 60 to 90 days to reach the consumer (you). Now they look at daily price being paid companies (shell, canadian tire, etc) to fill up their stations. If the stations don’t sell enough gas then head office does not have to buy as much gas to replace it and the spot price goes down. Now that the price goes down, you go out and fill your car up and so does everyone else and head office suddenly has to order more gas so the to spot price moves up because there is a sudden spike in demand and tomorrow the gas companies raise their prices accordingly. I think you can see how this becomes a yoyo effect very quickly. Things like storms and refinery shut downs can affect it as well. Hope that helps.
Some of the biggest refinaries are out west!
the price of gas goes down when costco opens at 9am and goes back up when they close for the day
Funny enough, I noticed the opposite trend a few weeks ago. During the hours when Costco was open, the price was 128. After Costco closed, price dropped to 121.
What a F’in joke up/down. Yes Gas is cheaper in Whitby almost like 10 cents, most stations are at 120.0 approx. This rip off thing they have going has to be stopped enough is enough. People do need to learn to boycot Petro and shell since they are the one controlling this bulls*$t.
Why are gas stations playing a new game? In Ajax, in the morning gas yesterday was aroun 1.28 something. On the way home its 1.22 something. Whats up with that?
You can’t tell me thats supply and demand. That’s just cause customers don’t have time on the way to work but will generally stop on the way home and so they have to complete with the local Costco. Its a Pioneer and Petro Can that are doing this. Not sure if it happens around other Costco areas or not.
Absolutely ridiculous!
Could some one honestly explain to me why prices vary so much. Last week in whitby it was 10 cents cheaper than in Toronto, and it is still marginally lower and usually always is. The explanation that it is regional gas competition is total BS and they say it is supply and demand. When is the last time a gas station ran out of gas. The RCMP need to investigate the oil companies because the government will not interfer as when prices go up the tax revenue goes up since gas is a percentage and not a flat fee.
Suck it up buttercup canadians are a little to pasive to take on the canadian goverment.so pay the price and let the politicians earn thier pensions.otherwise move to alberta.
hey folks,I went to bovaird and main last night for filling up gas and to my surpised the price of the gas downthere was soooooo cheap.its 1.26 compared to any gasoline station in the area.
Actually, if you goto Mac’s on Sandlewood and Chinguacousy, its 1.25. American owned and always cheap. Asked them if they have a points card, he replied by saying “No need for points card as its the cheapest price you will find around, we are american owned”. Best part is, its right across the street from my house
Actually Mac’s is owned by Couche Tard – Quebec company
How come, these days gas price goes up on Sunday ?
What everyone seems to be forgetting or ignoring is that a HUGE portion of the price we pay for gas are provincial and federal taxes, the collected taxes were originally supposed to go towards road maintenance, which the province now off loads on the local towns/cities to maintain. So the question is, what are the politicians going with the tax money? Make gas prices and election issue and see what happens to the pricing.
Canadians are to stupid to know if we stick together and boycott as a gas station they will drop the price or fold,on the other hand the other gas stations will probly raise the price of thier gas to fight back
Oh, please, a drop of 1.1 cents per litre is nothing spectacular. Try living in the Vancouver area, where gas is hovering right now around $1.42/litre. They’re telling us that it could go up to about $1.60/litre by the summer, due to shutting down of refineries on the west coast. You guys do NOT have anything to complain about!
Maybe if we all keep quiet our prices will reach as high as yours. Will it be acceptable to complain then?
Just because yours is even worse, doesn’t mean we can’t react. It’s offensive to be so condescending over an issue we all have a stake in.
thieves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where is the drop ??
Oh! Great!! 5 days raise and one day drop.
We need a Nationwide Boycott of gas for one week. Let the oil company choke on there OIL!!!
Nationwide shutdown? Everyone stay home for a week? That would have the oil companies in a dither wouldn’t it. All that oil, and nobody using it.
Boycotts of oil companies have never worked and they never will.
that’s because we are too collectively afraid to try it
Why is it that Brampton never a lower price for gas, it’s always at the stated price, while other areas in the GTA offer sale prices ?
Check out Bovaird Drive between Mississauga Road and Hwy 10….sometimes prices are 2 – 3 cents/litre cheaper.
Patrick;
There are probably no independent stations around you, only the “Big 3″. Lack of competition allows them to maintain a high price. In the few areas of the GTA where there are lower prices there are still a few small retailers left (Cango, Global, Ultramar etc) that have not been put out of business yet by the “Big 3″. They use predatory pricing to put the little guys under, then they jack the price later.
Someone explain please 111.5 in Thunder Bay and 131.7 in GTA? Just LOOK at the huge difference in reported gas prices on the ontario gas prices.com website!
Why isn,t somone chassing the dream of a hydrogen run engine? That way we could fill up with water. But don’t forget then water will go up and get rid of the bottled stuff.
the problem with hydrogen is its unstable in cold weather … water freezes at 0C …. anything colder and hydrogen would need to be stored in gas form to be stable and not stall.
That is great in theory, just picture this:
– 680 News traffic report going like this … we have a car fire on the south bound DVP below bloor, traffic is moving slowly …. correction traffic is now stopped due to cars exploding.
2 minutes later … Breaking news 300 people killed in a hydrogen explosion on the DVP
sorry to burst the bubble … the only way I can see gas prices falling is if Harper and Obama make an annoucement banning production and sale of new vehicles using gasoline by 2015 and used vehicles by 2018 … if they do that gas prices will drop overnight and car makers would be forced to come up with a cheaper workable solution … it would also give an economic boost to ontario car production, sorry Alberta and NF would return to a have not province by 2020 but it would lower gasoline prices… no demand + to much supply = lower prices …
LMFAO – what lame excuss this time – rip off artists!!
If you drive out side of Toronto and Mississauga area gas cheap.
Yup. it’s at LEAST 10 cents a litre cheaper!
Why and how do competing brands have the exact same price and change it at the exact same time??? Does this mean that they each know what they are doing???
If the media weren’t capitalising on the fluctuation of oil in the commodities market then Rogers Communications and Rogers (enterprises) would not be publicly trying to drive pricing up with their En-Pro reports.
Back prior to Xmas Rogers Communications on many of their channels reported oil prices would drop and the price point per litre of gas would hover around the $1.00 to $1.10 mark. A few weeks later they blamed the energy board when reporting that the average price over the winter would be $1.34 per litre. Suggesting consumption would be high and supplies were lower than expected.
This week they are reporting the US is actually having a higher output from new technologies and as such commodity prices on oil are dropping. Begs the question why are oil prices still high and who is influencing the consumer with erroneous details?
Its a big farce, the bottom line is that this gas price alert is bogus and only serves the interest of Rogers Communications Group and their shareholders who make mega bucks off the revenues generated by the increase in prices in the commodity market and at the pumps. Their reports justify the higher prices which few consumers question thinking the word from Rogers via whatever station they listen to is the truth.
ooooo .4 drop don’t hurt yourself with that you rip off artists!! shoudl be a 30cent drop! SOmeone mention the boycot of petro and other major companies very true I for one never buy gas from them.
Wait, penny is slowly out of circulation. The oil companies will start raising the price with 5 cents min or 10 cents per liter, and down max. 5 cents per liter. They need to do the rounding up.
Isn’t it marvelous! Gas prices rose three or four cents a day last week, and now they’re being reduced three or four tenths of a cent a day this week. It is getting more difficult to calculate these changes in a centsless country.
We all need to stop or limit buying of Petro Canada and Esso fuels. Suncor will accumilate reserves at a rate that will force them to sell off because they do not have the storage facilities. Just try it for one month. Otherwise, we are all going for be paying $1.40+ per litre for regular by the summer. Keep in mind you are buying Canadian oil. There is more than enough in our country so outside influences should not be a factor. So please, buy from the others and once the price is below $1.20 per litre keep it there by boycotting again if need be. Don’t be a complacent Canadian – fight back before it is too late!
As soon as the oil execs get their winter vacations paid for, the price will level out. What other product has such a volatile price?
It is 90 cents a liter or 3.57 per gallon in Buffalo, so it is worth the drive, if you live in the Golden Horseshoe.
Totally rip off! all politicians having fun with hypocrisy!!!! Appeal to all…please stop giving your business to biggies…go fill-up at small gas stations…like pioneer and other private gas stations.
Thanks feds & oil co.s. I remember to use vaseline this time
It’s very easy for Bank of Canada to say control your debts …but is the government really serious on this……..gas prices up and up means more burden on a consumer to spend more on gas, grocery and other things……and unfortunately the salaries are not going up in pace with the expenses …..and therefore a common man has no option but to increase debt……..
WTF you guys are a joke – what the hell is your lame reason now?
oh yippie ki yi ay…. I guess the oil exec’s want to go for steak and lobster tomorrow
Awesome!! keep ripping us off…..Thank you feds…..
WHOOO HOOOOOO thats so f’in awesome you guys have this rip off down to a art thanks guys keep up the good job!!
Do we have Tuesday’s price yet?
The price isn’t expected to change Tuesday morning (12:01 a.m.) as written.
Too bad not many vehicles run on biodiesel, or ethanol. Why is canada so behind???
By the way, we should be paying gasoline 50 cents per litre. Thanks governments…!!!
You glady purchased a case of water for 1.97/liter and that’s if you puchased it at No Frills, right?
Do you really need to buy so much bottled water in Ontario, Canada?
David Suzuki tells us that he would never drink water out of a bottle.
Gas is cheaper than water, be thankful! In some countries water is more expensive than gas. If that happens here, then we have a problem. Stop complaining and start campaigning!
At least we have a choice of buying bottled water or filtering our tap water(no matter how much Toronto Works toute the purity of their water supply) We don’t have a choice with gasoline. The gas and oil business is based on lies and BS. You can see by the profits and bonus’s they make.
…. which is actually 16.4 cents/litre
Actually, a case of water is $1.97 for 12 liters.
116.9 Innisfil Ontario
I DO REMEMBER A TIME IN DECEMBER THE IS WAS REPORTED THAT GAS PRICES WOULD BE BELOW $1.00 BY JANUARY 2013 AND I HAVE YET TO SEE IT.
JUST LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE GET OUR HOPES UP AND LET US DOWN AGAIN.
Wotcha gripin for folks! Am in India for a break and its $1.55 per litre………..so we’re doin fine at 1.24 eh!
Any idea of how well the electric cars are working on this cold conditions? I am curious; I’d love to jump ship and get a Leaf, Volt or Evo, ending the oil mafia hold on my paycheque. Cheers.
Filled up for $113.5 in Peterborough Petro Canada last night.
Gas in Alberta is 0.88 enjoy!
Have you been told today? LOL
While most of us look for coffee 1st thing in the morning, gas mafia looks for excuses to snatch every penny you have in your pocket. Good Morning in the Land of free to gouch !
No govt in power will steps up to reduce gas price. Do you
know why? Govt gets 25% of the price. It means the price goes
up and govt become HAPPY, they get more money.
There is no way you can do anything to this Gas companies.
I have been waiting for the gas price to drop and it keeps climbing for no good reason.
This is so unfair! The government need to intervene or ppl wont be able to afford to travel…unless this is a conspiracy with the oil companies and the vehicle manufacturers to get ppl to do away with their gas guzzlers and purchase new and modern electric vehicles…but some of us who can’t afford the gas wont be able to afford newer, expensive cars…cruel industries!
Husky in Mississauga at Bloor and Dixie was 123.0 at 9:30 AM.
There are already a lot of stations this morning priced at 123.5!
Wasn’t in October the experts were saying gas woud be $.99 a litre.by Christmas.
Oil companies get the last laugh again!!
There is a Shell Gas Station Downtown who has the lowest price ever (on Dupont), and today was selling at 119.99/litre.
what a wonderfull christmas gift
Merry Christmas !!
0.2 cent is Christmas Gift.
