OAKVILLE, Ont. – A 22-year-old woman is in hospital after she was found suffering from serious injuries on a road in Oakville on Thursday morning.
Halton police are appealing for tips to help them figure out what happened to her.
An Oakville Transit bus driver discovered the woman lying in the middle of Proudfoot Trail around 1:30 a.m. Police said she was suffering from “obvious trauma” and she was taken to Hamilton General Hospital where she’s listed in stable condition.
Because the woman’s injuries were so serious, police believed she had been either struck by a vehicle or fell from a moving vehicle.
Investigators believe the victim and a friend took a taxi from downtown Toronto to the Proudfoot Trail area. Police say the two parted ways at the drop-off point.
Now detectives are trying to track down the driver of the cab, which is described as a white Toyota Camry with dark leather interior with the taxi number 2013 or 2310.
The driver is South Asian, late 20s to early 30s, short dark hair and spoke with an Indian accent.
